“That your love may abound…”
During my time at Wheaton College, I have experienced significant growth in my love for others through Christ. Liberal arts courses—many of which I may not have chosen on my own—have broadened my perspective, while mission trips with the baseball team and my Communication major coursework have deepened my understanding of what it truly means to love others. These experiences have not only taught me about love in a broader sense but have also equipped me with the skills to actively and intentionally love others more fully.

During my CORE: Native Chicago class, I gained new perspectives on issues I had never considered addressing. This paper reflects another way to love others more deeply—by caring about what matters to them, recognizing their experiences, and refraining from judgment based on differences in appearance or background.
Spanish is challenging—but the good thing is that everyone knows that as well. The effort to communicate, even when it’s difficult, has deepened my understanding of love. Whether through the three Spanish courses I took or my baseball mission trip to the Dominican Republic, engaging with the Spanish language has taught me how intentionality in communication can be a powerful way to love others.

“This hands-on experience enriched my life by showing me people with different backgrounds than I am used to and learning how to show them love even though I wasn’t perfect at Spanish yet.”- Spanish Reflection Paper
